Laurel Hayes, PLPC
We all face times of change, loss, and struggle. It’s common to feel stuck in these times. Sometimes it helps to have someone to listen, support, reframe, and accompany us into new life and growth. In my current practice, and in my prior work as a multi-faith campus minister, spiritual director, and meditation teacher, I encourage people to reflect on the deeper meaning of their lives and to listen for the voice of wisdom within themselves. It is always there.
As a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and graduate of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program, I primarily use Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) in my work with clients, drawing on other modalities as well based on each person’s needs. ACT invites you to bring yourself into the present moment, accept whatever thoughts and emotions arise, work creatively with negative self-talk and intrusive thoughts, make room for beliefs about yourself to change, identify core values, and then base your choices and actions on them. Together, we will create a safe, compassionate space that allows you to treat yourself kindly, trust your inner goodness and wisdom, and learn new ways of coping with the challenges in your life.
I specialize in working with adults of all ages to address a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, stress, grief (for both personal and societal losses), spirituality, life transitions, identity and career development, LGBTQ+ issues, work-life congruence and balance, and aging. I also find it rewarding to work with neurodivergent adults to leverage their skills and gifts in the creation of deeper meaning and purpose. It would be my pleasure to accompany you on your journey towards growth and healing.
